Community Schools are a partnership among the City of Philadelphia, the School District of Philadelphia, and school communities to remove barriers to learning and support the success of each student. There are currently 20 Community Schools located throughout the city and include elementary, middle, and high schools.

This orientation is meant for individual volunteers. For questions about programmatic aspects of Community Schools, email OCFcommunications@phila.gov.

The Office of Children and Families oversees several programs that offer volunteer opportunitites. Please review the event description to ensure that you are connecting with the right program.

Community Schools Volunteer Orientation May 7, 2024 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM ET Zoom-Virtual Community Schools is a partnership between the Office of Children & Families and the School District of Philadelphia. The long-term goal of Community Schools is to ensure that every student graduates college- and career-ready, and that communities are healthy, safe, hopeful, and supportive. This orientation will give an overview of Community Schools, clearance and paperwork requirements, and general ways to get involved. We will also discuss volunteering for free grocery giveaways and in-school pantries.
