Community Schools are a partnership among the City of Philadelphia, the School District of Philadelphia, and school communities to remove barriers to learning and support the success of each student. There are currently 20 Community Schools located throughout the city and include elementary, middle, and high schools.

This orientation is meant for individual volunteers. For questions about programmatic aspects of Community Schools, email OCFcommunications@phila.gov.

The Office of Children and Families oversees several programs that offer volunteer opportunitites. Please review the event description to ensure that you are connecting with the right program.

Philly Reading Coaches Volunteer Orientation August 8, 2024 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM ET Logan Elementary School, 1700 Lindley Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19141 PHILLY READING COACHES (PRC) is a program that combines early reading support, access to books, and community volunteers to boost reading skills for our city’s children. Volunteers are paired with K-3 students. Today's orientation will give volunteers an overview of the program and tips on how to be a reading coach! Parking is available.
