Hoosiers Speak Out: Share Your Testimony on Early Redistricting

Legislative leaders rushed a special session on redistricting — forcing a mid-decade map through the House and now moving the fight to the Indiana Senate. Senate hearings are expected on Monday, December 8. They may not allow time for everyone to testify, or may try to shut public comment down altogether. But most Hoosiers do not want early redistricting, and you deserve to be heard.

What’s happening

This isn’t normal redistricting after the census — it’s an early, mid-decade power grab to redraw Indiana’s Congressional maps years ahead of schedule so politicians can pick their voters instead of voters choosing their leaders.

  • Legislative leaders admit the new maps were drawn by the Republican Redistricting Trust, but refuse to say who paid for the work — and the intent is clear: these maps are engineered to create a 9–0 Congressional advantage, not to reflect Hoosier communities.
  • Trump’s 2025 plan directs Republican-controlled states to rush new maps now to lock in more Congressional seats and rig the 2026 elections.
  • Polls show a clear majority of Hoosiers oppose early redistricting — but legislative leaders are still trying to move it anyway.
  • 60% of Hoosiers vote Republican. Why should they get 100% of our seats?

That means a small group of politicians is trying to silence the majority and drown out the 40% of Hoosier voters whose voices are already underrepresented on our current maps.

Why your testimony matters

If they won’t give everyone a microphone in the Statehouse, we’ll bring Hoosier voices to them anyway.

  • Your words will be printed and delivered to key lawmakers — especially Senate committee chairs and leadership.
  • Organizers and partners may read excerpts of your story in Senate hearings or on the Senate floor when public testimony is limited or shut down.
  • Your story helps show that Hoosiers across districts, parties, and backgrounds reject election-rigging maps and want lawmakers focused on real issues like childcare, utilities, and property taxes — not changing the rules mid-game.

Together, these stories build a record lawmakers can’t ignore — proof that Hoosiers are paying attention, and that changing the rules mid-game is cheating, not democracy.

What to include in your testimony

Imagine you could talk directly to lawmakers. In 500 words, what would you want to say to Senators and the public?

  • Who you are: your name, city or county, and anything important about your community or district.
  • Why you care: how gerrymandering or early redistricting would affect you, your family, your neighbors, or your community.
  • What feels unfair: how it feels to watch politicians try to change the rules mid-game instead of listening to voters.
  • What you want them to do: ask Senators to vote NO on any early or mid-cycle redistricting bill in the Senate and to stop wasting taxpayer dollars on rigging the maps.

You don’t have to be a policy expert. The most powerful testimony is honest, specific, and in your own words.

How we’ll use your story: MADVoters and partner organizations will deliver your testimony directly to members of the Indiana Senate during special session.

Lawmakers will receive:
Your first and last name
Your legislative districts
Your testimony message

This helps Senators understand who you are and why you oppose early redistricting.

We will not share your email, phone number, address, or any optional personal information you include on this form.

Legislators and committee staff may quote or read portions of your testimony publicly during hearings, floor debate, or in committee materials.

We may also use short excerpts in public education materials to show that Hoosiers across the state oppose early redistricting. We will always follow any sharing preferences you select on this form.
