We are fast food workers who are demanding to be treated with respect. Fast food workers aren’t paid enough to afford the basics, and the cost of housing in BC makes it even harder. It’s impossible to cobble together a living when we don't have fair wages or fair schedules.
Corporations like McDonald’s have made billions on the backs of low-paid workers. The pandemic has made our work harder, especially dealing with the public. The corporations we work for are making record profits, but working in fast food is dangerous and companies aren’t doing anything to make it safer.
Collective action is the solution, so we’re getting organized. Union members typically win better wages and benefits, and union members know what rights we have and how to make sure we’re treated fairly. It’s going to take all of us working together to improve the industry for everybody.
